Prepare stories, not answers

You cannot predict every question, but you can predict the skills. Build a small set of stories (a hard deadline, a conflict, a failure, something you led, something you improved) and you will have a strong answer for almost anything in the bank.

A quick drill

  • Pick three questions from different skills.
  • Answer each out loud in under two minutes, recording yourself.
  • Listen back: did you say what you did, and what changed?

How many behavioral questions should I prepare?

Six to eight strong stories usually cover a whole loop, because one good story can answer several questions. Map each story to two or three skills from the filter above.

What is the interviewer looking for?

Evidence of a skill in real work. Each question in the bank shows what it usually checks, so you can pick a story that proves exactly that.

How should I structure my answers?

Use STAR: Situation, Task, Action, Result. Our STAR Answer Builder helps you write and time each one.
