What makes a follow-up email work
Short, specific and sent at the right moment. Three to five sentences is plenty: thank them, mention one thing from the conversation, and restate why you are a good fit.
Example thank-you
Hi Daniel, thank you for your time today. I enjoyed hearing about the redesign of the onboarding flow, and it made me even more excited about the Product Designer role at Northwind. I would love to help the team ship it. Best, Priya
Should I send a thank-you email after every interview?
Yes, a short one within a day. It will rarely decide the outcome alone, but it is a cheap way to repeat one strong point and show interest.
How long should I wait before a status check?
Until a day or two after the date they said you would hear back. If no date was given, about a week after the interview.
Can I send one email to the whole panel?
Better to send a short separate note to each person, with one detail from your conversation with them.
